About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide independent administrative support for Counseling Services, a student service department providing mental health counseling, crisis response, outreach, prevention programming, wellness initiatives, consultation, and campus education
  • Coordinate daily operations of the Counseling Services front desk
  • Oversee, train, schedule, and support student front desk employees
  • Ensure students receive timely, professional, and confidential assistance
  • Support student access processes, departmental operations, purchasing, budget activities, reporting, assessment, and program initiatives
  • Schedule meeting logistics and secure resources
  • Serve as a primary point of contact and provide organizational information by phone, in person, and through other communication platforms
  • Prepare and edit documents and review work completed by others
  • Develop, send, receive, copy, and distribute communications according to policies and procedures
  • Maintain electronic and physical records and organizational systems
  • Serve as the main point person for hiring and training front desk student staff
  • Collect, analyze, and prepare communication materials using technology mediums

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
  • Proven ability to organize, lead, and coordinate tasks or teams effectively
  • Experience in a college/university counseling center or with young adult populations (preferred)
  • Experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds (preferred)
  • Experience supporting individuals in emotional distress or crisis situations (preferred)
  • Ability to be highly flexible and modify work to meet the changing needs of a day on in the office (preferred)
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with other staff and positively contribute to a client care team (preferred)
  • Experience with electronic mental health record keeping systems (preferred)
  • Experience supporting student workers, including scheduling, supervision, and hiring processes (preferred)
  • Resume required
  • Letter of interest specifying qualifications and experience required
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire and throughout employment; UW-River Falls does not offer visa sponsorship
  • Criminal background check required
  • Reference checks and sexual violence/sexual harassment inquiries covering the past seven years required
