About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Teach lower- and upper-level courses in Organizational and Strategic Communication, both online and in person
  • Teach courses such as Organizational Communication, Cases in Communication and Media Management, and Persuasion and Argumentation
  • Develop new courses in the successful applicant’s field of study
  • Implement inclusive instructional strategies supporting underrepresented and first-generation students
  • Develop a strong research program involving students and/or faculty
  • Advise and mentor students
  • Perform scholarly activities consistent with rank
  • Provide institutional and community service
  • Conduct outreach and networking with local businesses and nonprofit organizations
  • Contribute to ongoing program development
  • Contribute to multiple departmental emphases
  • Support the department’s Media Hub and student media initiatives
  • Advance student success, community connections, inclusive excellence, and access to education

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Earned doctorate in Communication or closely related field from an accredited institution by the end of the 2027–2028 academic year
  • Demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching
  • Demonstrated potential for excellence in scholarship
  • Ability to teach undergraduate Organizational and Strategic Communication courses in online and in-person formats
  • Ability to develop new coursework aligned with area of expertise
  • Ability to maintain an active research agenda involving student and faculty collaboration
  • Ability to advise and mentor students
  • Ability to perform scholarly activities consistent with rank
  • Ability to perform institutional and community service
  • Ability to contribute to multiple departmental emphases, including Public Relations and Social Media
  • Strong oral, written, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated integrity and strong leadership
  • Willingness to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
  • Finalists subject to pre-employment education verification
