About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Advise undergraduate elementary education majors on course selection, degree paths, retention, graduation, and certification requirements
  • Assist with undergraduate recruiting and advising events
  • Manage and coordinate clinical experience placements for undergraduate teacher licensure programs
  • Process student placement requests and arrange placements with Birth-12 partners
  • Recruit, cultivate, and support clinical experience sites
  • Establish connections with area schools and early childhood education sites and programs
  • Communicate with school administrators, cooperating teachers, university supervisors, and cooperating site supervisors
  • Initiate site supervisor payments and manage Wisconsin Internship Program finances as appropriate
  • Address concerns, mediate student problems, and advise teacher candidates with department leadership
  • Collaborate with the Undergraduate and Graduate Program Clinical Experience Coordinator on school contacts and practices
  • Maintain clinical handbooks, forms, records, and affiliation agreements
  • Represent the program at internal and external events to advocate for cooperative jobs, internships, and scholarships
  • Schedule logistics and secure resources for cooperative program planning
  • Maintain networks supporting program improvement and development
  • Evaluate program effectiveness and recommend improvements
  • Complete required trainings and professional development; perform other assigned duties

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education or a related field
  • Two years of experience in academic advising, program coordination, education, or a related field
  • Experience using technology to guide workflow
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations
  • Ability to maintain positive interpersonal relationships with faculty, staff, students, and community members
  • Advanced skills using Excel, spreadsheet applications, data systems, and record-keeping software
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively within a team
  • Advanced organizational skills
  • Ability to take initiative and follow through in a timely manner
  • Ability to make sound decisions
  • Skilled in problem solving
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and navigate sensitive subject matter/situations
  • Ability to participate in occasional evening and weekend events
  • Must reside in Wisconsin or Minnesota upon hire
  • Must be independently and legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire and maintain work authorization without employer sponsorship
  • Must not require H-1B or other work authorization immigration sponsorship
  • Cannot be employed on the STEM OPT extension
  • Employment requires a criminal background check
