About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage operations for undergraduate medical student education in the Department of Medicine
- Coordinate Acting Internship rotations occurring monthly
- Assign students to teams and arrange didactic schedules, rooms, Zoom sessions, teaching staff, and Case Canvas goals/objectives
- Maintain regular communication with students regarding calendars, didactics, conferences, meetings, handouts, directions, and resident teacher notifications
- Liaise with Acting Internship and Clerkship Directors
- Coordinate with hospital onboarding staff to ensure students have clinical-work access and credentials
- Collaborate with medical school personnel on communication, student education, curricular changes, and evolving education issues
- Create and maintain systems for student and teacher evaluations
- Coordinate with CWRU School of Medicine co-clerkship directors, affiliated hospitals, and society deans to ensure rotation consistency and address student issues
- Format, write, and upload more than 100 Department of Medicine residency-support letters per season
- Collect and report data on student assessment, achievement, and teacher productivity
- Support educational scholarship initiatives for Clerkship and Acting Internship
- Coordinate medical student clerkships occurring every 12 weeks
- Recruit and assign ambulatory doctors for clerkship assignments
- Interpret and analyze program requirements, institutional policies/procedures, and data
- Recommend programmatic changes based on surveys, citations, and improvement areas
- Help organize monthly Internal Medicine Interest Group events and residency-recruitment informational meetings
- Support MSTP clinical tutorial onboarding, spring refresher curriculum, and OSCE coordination
- Liaise with elective coordinators across Medicine divisions
- Coordinate Senior Teaching Attending Residents (STARS) activities, recruitment, training, calendars, reminders, H&P grading, and abstract assignments
- Work with Department of Medicine leadership and administration to facilitate medical trainee recruitment and education
- Comply with University Hospitals policies, standards, Code of Conduct, PHI, and FERPA requirements
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's Degree (Required)
- 5+ years of professional/administrative experience (Required)
- Experience in an academic health system (Preferred)
- High-level programmatic management, analysis, and support of medical student clinical education
- Effective communication skills and knowledge of hospital policies and procedures
- Ability to make independent decisions within policies and standards for students
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to work with Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine educators, registrar, and student platform
- Ability to work effectively with citywide affiliated hospital Internal Medicine education coordinators
- Computer proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and RedCap
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
- Knowledge of medical student education
- Ability to work with support personnel throughout University Hospitals and medical school
- Ability to work with Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine leadership, registrar, and administrative personnel
- Ability to maintain parity in educational offerings
- Must safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) and comply with FERPA requirements
- Ability to meet the listed physical demands, including occasional standing/walking, constant sitting/talking/hearing, and rare lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling up to 20 lbs
