About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead assessment of current business processes and systems to identify inefficiencies and transformation opportunities
  • Elicit, analyze, and document complex business and functional requirements through interviews, workshops, and workflow analysis
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to design future-state processes and evaluate people, process, and technology solutions for feasibility and ROI
  • Provide options, advice, and recommendations on business process changes, system functionality, and customizations or fixes
  • Research best practices from Canadian post-secondary institutions
  • Use data collection, analysis, and stakeholder collaboration to ensure University policies and procedures are fair, efficient, consistent, and equitable
  • Develop proposals for process changes based on research and data analysis
  • Lead medium- to large-scale multidisciplinary initiatives
  • Work with IST, vendors, and technical resources to ensure requirements meet client expectations
  • Draft project documentation, including recommendation reports and business cases
  • Plan, direct, and coordinate project activities to achieve goals within prescribed timeframes
  • Manage project scope changes, identify risks, and devise contingency plans
  • Lead development and maintenance of training programs and reference manuals
  • Recommend implementation of new processes and procedures to leadership
  • Develop and implement quality management procedures and methods
  • Provide a communication link between business areas and leadership

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Related post-secondary diploma or degree in Business Administration, Computing Science, Management Information Systems or a related field
  • Minimum 5 years of increasing responsibility in either a systems analyst or business analyst role
  • Certification in a Business Analysis program certified by International Institute of Business Analysts
  • Experience in lean six sigma and continuous improvement
  • Experience and knowledge of change management principles, methodologies and tools
  • Proven organizational change management skills
  • Exceptional analytical and conceptual problem-solving skills
  • Ability to synthesize and clearly communicate complex findings to various stakeholders
  • Ability to build relationships, communicate, influence, advocate, and negotiate with a wide variety of stakeholders
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for leading effective teams
  • Ability to present ideas confidently in written, verbal, and presentation formats to stakeholders and senior leadership
  • Knowledge of the post-secondary environment is an asset
