About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Assist with execution of comprehensive management plans for a variety of events
- Steward alumni, donors, university and community stakeholders through activities and programs including major events, gift announcements, donor acknowledgements, lectures, webinars, and reputation-building events
- Coordinate event-planning details, including concepts, budgets, invitations, catering, AV, entertainment, registration, and communications
- Manage events on-site, proactively identifying and resolving issues and providing a high-quality guest experience
- Collaborate with colleagues in faculties, marketing and communications, development, senior administration, researchers, and alumni speakers to deliver high-caliber events
- Help advance institutional priorities and build strategic partnerships and relationships
Requirements
What you’ll need- A minimum of 3 years of experience in event planning, stakeholder engagement, alumni or donor relations
- University degree preferred, preferably from the University of Alberta, with background in events management, theatre management, social sciences, recreation, program planning, or education
- A diploma in a related field will be considered
- Experience at a post-secondary institution is an asset
- Knowledge of PeopleSoft and Advance, which can be learned through specialized training once employed at the U of A
- Valid driver’s license is required
- Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
- Discretion and diplomacy
- Proven ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities
- Ability to adapt and work effectively within a large organization and an academic culture
- Excellent computer skills, including Excel, Word, and Google Suite
- Good understanding of accounting principles and budget management
- Resume and cover letter required; cover letter must describe experience coordinating events or programs
