About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Schedule assessments to ensure timely client services and client flow
  • Determine appropriate assessment modality (in-clinic or virtual care)
  • Conduct initial and ongoing assessments for children, teens, and adults with stuttering or other communication needs
  • Coordinate assessments with parents, administrative staff, school personnel, referring clinicians, and teachers
  • Review client files and analyze assessment results, including audio/video samples
  • Generate treatment, funding, and referral recommendations
  • Complete and share reports, summaries, and other required documentation
  • Develop treatment plans and provide individually tailored fluency or communication interventions in clinic, school, or remotely
  • Design treatment activities and plan school-based therapy sessions
  • Provide home-practice and carry-over recommendations
  • Consult with educational teams regarding classroom communication goals
  • Coordinate ISTAR intensive and refresher clinics
  • Document treatment progress
  • Mentor and train community-based SLPs
  • Deliver guest lectures, in-service training, and workshops
  • Supervise students completing clinical placements
  • Assist with equipment maintenance and calibration
  • Maintain clinical materials and resources and update forms and protocols
  • Participate in research, clinical, public education, donor relations, and public awareness projects as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Master degree in Speech-Language Pathology
  • ACSLPA registration is required
  • Experience with providing interventions to address communication difficulties
  • Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to identify speech disorders by listening
  • Strong problem solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills
  • Demonstrates initiative and is a self-starter with strong organizational, prioritization, and self management skills
  • Project and resource management skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with a focus on stakeholder engagement, service documentation, and report writing
  • Proven / demonstrated understanding of program planning, implementation, data collection, evaluation, assessment and dissemination
  • Ability to develop and maintain professional, positive, and collaborative working relationships with internal and external clients and stakeholders at all organizational levels
  • Specialized training in and experience with providing stuttering interventions is an asset
  • Previous experience working within a school system is considered an asset
  • Experience working within post-secondary institutions is considered an asset
  • Prior experience at ISTAR may be considered an asset
  • Position is temporary part-time with an end date of June 30, 2027
