About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve as a patient resource for registration activities
- Maintain accurate patient demographics, insurance details, eligibility, and pharmacy information
- Collect copays, coinsurance, and statement payments
- Facilitate scheduling and patient information requests according to UAMS–North Central workflows and policies
- Meet, greet, and assist the public; answer telephones professionally
- Schedule, reschedule, and coordinate appointments using hospital systems
- Conduct visit notifications and pre-registration
- Process walk-ins, create new patient charts, and access systems for orders
- Conduct insurance verification and explain benefits
- Request and gather outside medical records; file patient charts
- Collect and post payments and issue receipts
- Reconcile and manage the change fund
- Inventory, order, and stock supplies; clean and maintain equipment
- Pick up and deliver mail; maintain a clean and stocked waiting room
- Attend training, in-services, staff meetings, and annual education assessments
- Participate in orientation and training of new staff
- Maintain competencies and complete annual skill assessments and continuing-education documentation
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma/GED
- Two (2) years of customer service or healthcare experience
- Good communication skills
- Ability to follow oral instructions, read, and write
- Computer/basic keyboard skills
- Telephone etiquette skills
- General knowledge of office machines, including printers and scanners
- Excellent customer service skills
- Pre-employment screening, including criminal background, drug testing, and/or education verification
- Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment
- Spanish interpreter experience is preferred
- Knowledge of basic medical terminology is preferred
- Knowledge of healthcare insurance eligibility is preferred
- Experience with EPIC Systems is preferred
- Two (2) years of experience in registration or scheduling in a healthcare environment is preferred
