About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Function as a patient resource for scheduling and billing questions
  • Facilitate comprehensive patient data collection
  • Ensure timely and accurate billing and prompt payment collections
  • Facilitate scheduling coordination and resolve conflicts
  • Perform all duties of the Access Coordinator I and II levels
  • Coordinate and perform complex patient registration, scheduling, and access functions
  • Schedule hospital procedures, clinic appointments, diagnostic services, and other patient services
  • Verify patient demographics, insurance coverage, eligibility, and authorization requirements
  • Obtain and accurately document required patient and financial information
  • Review referrals and orders for appropriate documentation and scheduling requirements
  • Resolve complex scheduling, registration, insurance, and patient access issues
  • Serve as an escalation resource for Access Coordinators and other front-end staff
  • Assist patients with appointment, registration, insurance, and hospital service questions
  • Communicate with physicians, nurses, clinical departments, insurance companies, and other healthcare professionals
  • Correct discrepancies or missing information
  • Ensure accurate data entry into electronic medical records and scheduling/registration systems
  • Assist with pre-registration and financial clearance activities
  • Follow hospital policies, HIPAA requirements, payer guidelines, and regulatory standards
  • Maintain confidentiality and protect sensitive patient information
  • Monitor work queues and prioritize time-sensitive patient requests

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School, GED, or formal education equivalent
  • Three year's experience in registration or scheduling in a healthcare environment
  • Good communication skills
  • Computer/basic keyboard skills
  • Telephone etiquette skills
  • General knowledge of office machines including printers and scanners
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Knowledge in basic medical terminology required
  • CHAA Certification preferred
  • Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment
  • Annual TB Screening
