About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Function as a patient resource for scheduling and billing questions
- Facilitate comprehensive patient data collection
- Ensure timely and accurate billing and prompt collection of payment for services rendered
- Facilitate scheduling coordination and resolve conflicts
- Conduct insurance verification and explain benefits
- Run patient eligibility checks
- Request and gather outside medical records from referrals
- File patient charts as needed
- Conduct authorizations and pre-certifications
- Track pre-authorizations and maintain referrals
- Schedule and coordinate appointments, surgeries, and tests using hospital systems
- Process visit notifications for patients
- Collect and post payments and issue receipts
- Reconcile daily deposits and batch dollars
- Counsel patients on related financial information
- Perform other duties as needed to support patient care activities
- Support clinical programs located in the Psychiatric Research Institute building on the main UAMS campus
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma, GED, or formal educational equivalent
- Three years of experience in registration or scheduling in a healthcare environment
- Good communication skills
- Computer/basic keyboard skills
- Telephone etiquette skills
- General knowledge of office machines including printers and scanners
- Excellent customer service skills
- Knowledge in basic medical terminology
- Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment
- Annual TB screening and criminal background check
- Certified Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA) Certification preferred
- List of three professional references and resume
