About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide specialized assessment and management of patients with complex acute and chronic wounds throughout the inpatient setting
  • Provide comprehensive assessment and management of acute, chronic, surgical, traumatic, pressure-related, and complex wounds
  • Perform bedside wound evaluations and assess wound etiology, tissue characteristics, drainage, infection, perfusion, surrounding skin, and healing potential
  • Perform and/or assist with bedside wound debridement within scope of practice, credentialing, and privileges
  • Develop individualized wound care plans
  • Manage surgical wounds, postoperative wound assessment, dressing selection, incision management, wound complications, and coordination with surgical services
  • Recommend and apply advanced wound dressings and wound care products
  • Initiate, manage, and troubleshoot negative pressure wound therapy
  • Monitor wound progression and modify treatment plans
  • Escalate wounds requiring surgical, vascular, infectious disease, plastic surgery, or other specialty care
  • Respond to inpatient wound care consultations
  • Establish standardized workflows for wound care consultations
  • Provide ongoing inpatient wound care management
  • Communicate recommendations to medical and surgical teams and bedside nursing staff
  • Serve as a clinical resource for providers and nursing staff
  • Participate in daily multidisciplinary wound care rounds
  • Coordinate treatment plans addressing mobility, nutrition, pressure redistribution, infection prevention, pain management, and discharge needs
  • Promote an interdisciplinary approach to wound prevention and treatment
  • Help develop a comprehensive UAMS wound care program, including potential outpatient, telewound, digital wound measurement and imaging, and post-acute care partnerships
  • May perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • APRN: Master’s Degree in Nursing
  • APRN: Three years of nursing experience
  • APRN: Licensed Registered Nurse in Arkansas
  • APRN License
  • APRN: Acute Care Certification
  • PA: Master's in PA Studies
  • PA Licensure
  • PA: Acute Care Certification
  • Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment
  • Required application documents: license or certificate, three professional references, and resume
  • Subject to pre-employment screening, including criminal background, drug testing, and/or education verification
