About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Extend patient care and administrative services for UAMS physicians in outpatient settings
  • Provide comprehensive health assessments and determine diagnoses
  • Implement treatment plans and prescribe medicines and treatments
  • Perform procedures
  • Manage patient health issues independently or in collaboration with designated physicians
  • Diagnose and manage patients’ healthcare problems autonomously and collaboratively
  • Serve as a healthcare resource, interdisciplinary consultant, and patient advocate
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary patient care and facilitate necessary consultations
  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including history, physical examination, risk factors, and ongoing status
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests, including laboratory tests, imaging, and other studies
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate treatment plans, including medications and non-pharmacologic interventions
  • Collaborate with physicians, specialists, nursing staff, allied health professionals, and referrals to ensure continuity and appropriateness of care
  • Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, preventive health, self-care, side effects, and escalation of care
  • Document patient encounters, treatments, and outcomes in the electronic health record
  • Ensure compliance with institutional and regulatory standards and participate in quality improvement initiatives
  • Support program development and perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Master’s Degree plus two (2) years nursing experience
  • Licensed Registered Nurse in Arkansas
  • APRN/CPN License
  • Current BLS certification or ability to successfully obtain certification within the first 30 days of employment
  • Ability to operate typical nursing equipment essential to performing the job, including scales, procedure equipment, needles, blood pressure equipment, and EKG machines
  • Normal communication sensory requirement
  • Ability to comply with CDC Universal Precautions when indicated
  • Annual TB Screening, Criminal Background Check, and Substance Abuse Testing
  • Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment
