Assistant Administrator, Patient Care

About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Partner with Section/Service Chiefs and Arkansas Children’s leadership to advance the shared missions of UAMS and Arkansas Children’s
- Oversee administrative, financial, and operational functions for assigned sections
- Serve as a primary connection to centralized UAMS resources including Human Resources, Payroll, IT, Facilities, Research Administration, and General Counsel
- Strengthen provider operations, patient access, provider productivity, workforce planning, and recruitment
- Create and manage budgets, prepare financial and variance reports, conduct internal audits and financial reviews, and complete special financial projects
- Develop and implement annual budgets, including expense budgets and revenue projections
- Ensure reporting, tracking, and compliance requirements for contracts, grants, and UAMS procedures
- Support faculty compensation plans and track faculty productivity, salary distributions, assignments, and effort allocation
- Manage purchasing, travel, financial transactions, recharge centers, invoice payment, and error resolution
- Assist faculty with grant and contract preparation, budgeting, and reporting
- Collect data, prepare reports and statistics, and provide monthly and annual decision support to section chiefs
- Recruit, hire, supervise, train, evaluate, and manage departmental staff
- Lead and guide management and administrative staff, coordinate activities, and distribute workloads
- Facilitate faculty recruitment, hiring, immigration issues, promotion/tenure processes, and performance management
- Support section mission, vision, goals, strategic plans, and performance objectives
- Collaborate on contracts, grants, fundraising, and business development activities
- Oversee business aspects of clinical practice at Arkansas Children’s Hospital and implement clinical practice initiatives
- Maintain relationships with leaders at UAMS and Arkansas Children’s Hospital
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in business administration, healthcare administration, finance, accounting or related field
- Ten (10) years of management experience with progressive responsibility, including supervisory experience
- Knowledge in finance, budgeting, and accounting
- Knowledge of institutional and departmental business and financial processes
- Ability to address problems and/or coordinate resolution with appropriate campus resources
- Knowledge of recruiting, personnel management, and faculty promotion and tenure processes
- Ability to manage a diverse group of professional and administrative staff
- Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment
- Criminal Background Check
- Preferred: Master’s or Terminal degree in business administration, health care administration, finance, accounting, legal or related
