About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support innovative, NIH-funded research in neuroscience focused on neurodevelopmental and neurodegenerative diseases
  • Conduct advanced laboratory experiments using molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry, and immunological methods
  • Grow mammalian cells and culture brain cells
  • Perform western blotting, immunoprecipitation, molecular genetic techniques, RNA-Seq, RT-PCR, bioinformatics, and microscopy imaging
  • Dissect different brain regions
  • Help write scientific manuscripts and grant proposals, including initial manuscript drafts
  • Read scientific literature to design new experiments
  • Develop new research skills to strengthen independent research ability
  • Organize and oversee daily laboratory operations
  • Order supplies and small equipment, maintain chemical inventories, enter computerized data, and perform routine chemical and instrumental safety checks
  • Train graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, technicians, and temporary undergraduate students
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Master's Degree
  • Two (2) years of relevant experience in laboratory training
  • Experience including cloning, PCR/RT-PCR, western blot, and aseptic mammalian cell culture handling
  • Preference given for IACUC and Biosafety Protocol experience
  • Preference given for Clinical Research Quality Manager certification, Certified Clinical Research Professional or similar
  • Curriculum Vitae required
  • List of three Professional References (name, email, business title) required
  • Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment
