About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Works under supervision and reads/interprets health record documentation to identify all diagnoses and procedures affecting outpatient encounter visits
- Assesses health record documentation adequacy to support assigned diagnoses and procedures
- Applies knowledge of anatomy and physiology, clinical disease processes, pharmacology, and diagnostic and procedural terminology to assign accurate codes
- Maintains understanding of ICD-10 and CPT coding classification systems
- Reviews and performs data charge entries in hospital and physician patient accounting systems for outpatient clinic visits
- Organizes and prioritizes assigned work queues daily
- Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma/GED required
- Must have an understanding of CPT and ICD-10
- One of the following certifications: CCA, CCS, CPC, RHIT, or RHIA
- Persons must have proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment
- Subject to pre-employment screening, including a criminal background check, drug testing, and/or education verification
