Certified Procedural Coding Specialist

About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Read and interpret health record documentation to identify all diagnoses and procedures affecting outpatient encounter visits
- Assess health record documentation adequacy to support assigned diagnosis and procedure codes
- Apply anatomy and physiology, clinical disease processes, pharmacology, and diagnostic and procedural terminology knowledge to assign accurate codes
- Maintain understanding of ICD-10 and CPT coding classification systems
- Review and perform data charge entry in hospital and physician patient accounting systems for outpatient clinic visits
- Organize and prioritize assigned work queues for daily review
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma/GED required
- Must have one of the following certifications: CCA, CCS, CPC, RHIT, or RHIA
- Understanding of CPT and ICD10
- Persons must have proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Health Information Management preferred
- Two years of coding experience preferred
