About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Organize and assist dental hygienists in delivering dental procedures in the Oral Health Clinic
- Guide patients through dental processes before treatment
- Educate patients in oral hygiene and provide postoperative instructions
- Obtain and review patient health histories
- Take and record blood pressure and other vital signs
- Perform dental charting and treatment documentation in the electronic record
- Expose and process diagnostic-quality dental radiographs
- Administer nitrous oxide/oxygen analgesia and monitor sedation cases
- Perform coronal polishing and in-office whitening
- Maintain dental hygiene equipment
- Clean and sterilize instruments, supplies, and dental assist units
- Maintain sterilization-area organization and supplies
- Establish and maintain inventory control and reorder supplies
- Review daily schedules and resolve conflicts
- Perform clerical, administrative, front desk, telephone, and appointment duties
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school diploma/GED
- Completion of a dental assisting training program
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a dental assistant
- Must be currently licensed/certified in the State of Arkansas as a registered dental assistant
- Must be trained in four-handed dentistry
- Thorough working knowledge of Current Dental Terminology (CDT) codes, OSHA regulations, and the Arkansas Dental Practice Act
- Permit for expanded functions: radiography, coronal polishing, and nitrous oxide administration
- Must meet the training and experience qualifications
- Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment
- Annual TB screening, criminal background check, and substance abuse testing
