About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide leadership and subject-matter expertise in Grants/Costs Accounting processes, UAMS policies and procedures, state laws, and federal regulations
  • Oversee post-award grant activities, including award setup, financial reporting, invoicing, effort reporting, and other grant-related responsibilities
  • Manage payroll allocations, journal entries, accounting adjustments, monthly reports, and grant budgets for the Department of Pediatrics
  • Oversee the full grant cycle, including kickoff and closeout meetings
  • Collaborate with Arkansas Children’s Research Institute, Grants Accounting Office, and administrators to manage grants and awards
  • Prepare and review complex documents, reports, analyses, contracts, legal documents, subcontracts, amendments, and modifications
  • Support compliance decision-making and advanced reports/events, including Uniform Guidance audits, financial compliance reviews, NSF Survey, SEFA, and F&A proposal development
  • Manage award closeout in accordance with federal and state requirements
  • Manage large cash transactions and navigate complex electronic environments for cash management
  • Make independent judgments and resolve complex, urgent, and conflicting issues
  • Negotiate financial compliance matters and provide subject-matter expertise
  • Work independently and within a complex structured team
  • Communicate financial compliance and regulatory requirements and provide training to faculty and staff
  • Serve as liaison to management on policies, plans, and objectives
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field required
  • Five (5) years in finance or related experience required
  • One or more years of experience as a Grants Administrator or equivalent required
  • Minimum of 3 years in financial management of sponsored programs or related
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment
  • Ability to pass criminal background check and substance abuse testing
  • Preferred: Master’s degree in business or related field
  • Preferred: Knowledge of federal agency policies in 2 CFR 200
  • Preferred: Seven (7) plus years of experience in grants and cost accounting at an IHE
  • Preferred: RACC Certified Research Administrator (CRA) certification
  • Preferred: Strong Excel skills
