About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform clerical duties including triaging phone calls and specimens
- Assign identification numbers to specimens along with patient name and specimen type
- Review, verify, and log incoming consultation cases from outside facilities into the UAMS system
- Verify patient status, insurance coverage, and proper authorizations prior to services
- Collect patient information and data within regulation
- Guarantee patient identification throughout every process
- Support other staff members and the department as needed
- Accession specimen outreach and Surgical Pathology
- Verify correct insurance for each patient
- Perform clerical work for the Gross Department and triage calls to the gross lab
- Assist clinics looking for results and correct incorrect patient information
- Fulfill requests from outside clinics, including supplies and requisitions
- Maintain a clean and organized area
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School diploma or GED equivalent and two (2) years of experience as a Lab Tech or Assistant in a Clinical Laboratory, or 60 hours of completed higher education in a health sciences program
- Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment
- Annual TB Screening
