About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Report directly to the Laboratory Operations Director
- Work closely with laboratory staff, Supervisors and Managers across departments
- Provide comprehensive support for patient care activities with the Outreach Program
- Investigate outreach specimen issues and ensure patient demographics, orders and laboratory routing are correct
- Ensure billing information is documented in EPIC
- Ensure tests are received in the correct tube/container type
- Scan specimens into EPIC and re-label specimens as needed
- Enter orders into EPIC through requisition entry for outside institutions
- Process add-on tests
- Answer phone calls concerning results, faxing reports, specimen collection and test ordering
- Scan requisitions from institutional accounts into EPIC
- Call critical results to clinics as needed
- Complete Safety Intelligence reports and deliver them to the Quality Manager
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma, GED or formal education equivalent
- Two years of clinical laboratory experience
- Ability to follow oral instruction, read and write
- Computer/basic keyboard skills
- Telephone etiquette skills
- Excellent customer service skills
- Persons must have proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment
- Annual TB Screening, Criminal Background Check, Substance Abuse Testing
- Preferred: Associates degree or Technical Certificate
- Preferred: Experience with medical coding/billing
