About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide direction and oversight for food production systems, patient meal services, and tray-line operations
  • Ensure high standards across patient and retail food services
  • Monitor food costs and support efficient operations
  • Coordinate the planning, implementation, and evaluation of menus
  • Oversee food-handling practices, sanitation standards, and equipment use and maintenance
  • Collaborate with the Director of Nutrition Services to develop goals, objectives, policies, and procedures
  • Implement strategies to achieve established goals and monitor progress
  • Monitor patient food service taste and temperature panels and conduct patient tray evaluations
  • Assist with preparing and monitoring the department’s annual budget
  • Assist with preparing the department’s annual report
  • Ensure compliance with Joint Commission standards, regulatory requirements, and state policies and guidelines
  • Advise the Director of Nutrition Services of concerns and develop corrective action plans
  • Oversee inventory and control of equipment and supplies
  • Select, train, supervise, and evaluate departmental staff
  • Provide leadership and direction to supervisory and administrative personnel
  • Coordinate ongoing departmental training and employee performance evaluations
  • Maintain accurate departmental records and submit regular and special reports to the Vice Chancellor
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree plus four (4) years of experience in foodservice management, catering management, hospitality industry management, or equivalent experience including two years supervisory experience OR High School diploma and eight (8) years of experience in foodservice management, catering management, hospitality industry management, or equivalent experience including two years supervisory experience
  • Serve Safe Certification preferred or certification obtained within 2 years of hire
  • Must be able to communicate well and inspire confidence, as well as ensure excellent patient satisfaction
  • Self-directed, flexible and innovative
  • Good leadership and organizational skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • Registered Dietitian or Certified Dietary Manager preferred
  • Significant experience in a hospital food service department in a management role preferred
  • Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment
  • Annual TB Screening, Criminal Background Check, Substance Abuse Testing
  • Ability to perform required physical activities, including standing, talking, walking, crawling, crouching, stooping, and sitting
