About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Set up and assist providers with medical procedures and examinations
  • Research physicians’ orders/accession orders within the Epic environment before laboratory submission or processing
  • Collect and record patient data and vital signs; perform phlebotomy
  • Perform EKGs and dressing changes
  • Administer approved medications according to UAMS policy
  • Manage patient appointment schedules
  • Greet patients and customers professionally
  • Perform patient registration/check-out, answer telephones, and complete office administration duties
  • Coordinate appointments, referrals, consults, tests, and procedures
  • Check in and register patients, check out and collect payments, issue receipts, and verify insurance coverage
  • Respond to third-party payer requirements, request medical records, and schedule surgeries
  • Maintain confidentiality and communicate accurate, complete information
  • Collaborate with coworkers, management, ancillary departments, and internal and external stakeholders
  • Provide exceptional customer service
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma/GED plus Successful completion of a Medical Assistant training program
  • Ability to perform point-of-care testing, draw and collect blood specimens, and prepare for laboratory processing
  • At least one (1) year of phlebotomy and MA experience (preferred)
  • BLS (CPR) Certification (preferred)
  • Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment
  • Required documents: License or Certificate, List of three Professional References, Resume
  • Subject to pre-employment screening: Adult Maltreatment, Annual TB Screening, Child Maltreatment, Criminal Background Check, Sex Offender Registry, Substance Abuse Testing
