About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Set up and assist providers with medical procedures and examinations
  • Research physicians’ orders and accession orders within Epic before laboratory submission or processing
  • Collect and record patient data and vital signs; perform phlebotomy as needed
  • Perform EKGs and dressing changes
  • Administer approved medications according to UAMS policy
  • Manage patient appointment schedules
  • Greet patients and customers professionally
  • Perform patient registration and checkout, answer telephones, collect payments, issue receipts, and verify insurance coverage
  • Coordinate appointments, referrals, consults, tests, and procedures
  • Respond to third-party payer requirements and request medical records and surgery scheduling
  • Maintain confidentiality and communicate accurate, complete information
  • Collaborate positively with coworkers, management, ancillary departments, and internal and external stakeholders
  • Provide exceptional customer service and perform other assigned duties

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma/GED plus Successful completion of a Medical Assistant training program
  • Ability to perform point-of-care testing, draw and collect blood specimens, and prepare for laboratory processing
  • At least one (1) year of phlebotomy and MA experience (preferred)
  • BLS (CPR) Certification (preferred)
  • Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment
  • Required documents: License or Certificate, list of three professional references, and resume
  • Subject to pre-employment screening, including adult maltreatment, annual TB screening, child maltreatment, criminal background check, sex offender registry, substance abuse testing, and education verification
