About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Assist the clinic physician with examination and treatment of patients
  • Conduct patient interviews and required screenings
  • Measure and record vital signs in patients' Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
  • Draw and collect blood samples and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis
  • Perform EKGs as needed
  • Prepare and stock treatment rooms
  • Register and schedule patients for appointments and procedures
  • Provide direct patient care by acquiring medical history, vital signs, and lab samples
  • Communicate with nursing staff regarding patient condition changes and maintain patient-care supplies
  • Greet patients upon arrival
  • Schedule, register, and check out patients
  • Collect payments, issue receipts, and verify insurance coverage
  • Transport patients to other hospital areas as needed
  • Provide grooming, oral hygiene, comfort measures, and assistance with physical activities
  • Document patient care activities
  • Adhere to UAMS safety plan and safe work practices
  • Provide input on safety issues
  • Support department members and notify appropriate staff of problems requiring intervention
  • Participate in continuing education and institutional advancement opportunities
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Successful completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program
  • Minimal Computer skills
  • Annual TB Screening
  • Criminal Background Check
  • Substance Abuse Testing
  • Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment
  • License or Certificate document required for application
  • List of three Professional References
