About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Work under the direct supervision of the clinic physician
- Assist with examination and treatment of patients
- Conduct patient interviews and collect medical histories
- Measure and record vital signs in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
- Draw and collect blood samples and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis
- Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations
- Register and schedule patients for appointments and procedures
- Advise patients regarding treatment, medication, and physician instructions
- Collect lab samples and complete documentation for submission to the lab
- Manage patient appointment schedules
- Greet patients and customers professionally
- Register and check out patients, collect payments, issue receipts, and verify insurance coverage
- Set up for and assist providers with medical procedures and examinations
- Research physicians’ orders and accession orders within the Epic environment
- Perform EKGs, dressing changes, phlebotomy, and administer approved medications per UAMS policy
- Perform other assigned duties
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma/GED
- Successful completion of Medical Assistant program
- Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment
- License or Certificate
- Three professional references
- Resume
- Ability to complete annual TB screening, criminal background check, substance abuse testing, and education verification
- Ability to perform the listed physical activities, including standing, walking, lifting, pushing, pulling, reaching, grasping, and handling sharps
- Ability to perform phlebotomy, EKGs, dressing changes, medical procedures, and administer approved medications per UAMS policy
