About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Safely prepare infant feedings according to HMBANA Guidelines, orders, recipes, and department policies
- Maintain the aseptic environment of the Milk Lab
- Collect, store, and maintain inventory of breast milk
- Prepare daily breast milk and formula feedings
- Clean and stock the Milk Lab
- Maintain the lab so breast milk and fortified formula feeds can be prepared safely
- Follow UAMS NICU Milk Lab policies and assist with training new staff
- Ensure equipment is working and supplies are available
- Maintain cleaning protocols and keep breast milk refrigerators and freezers clean and organized
- Communicate maintenance and supply concerns to the Milk Lab Manager
- Distribute daily MOM Logs and maintain accurate freezer, patient, and refrigerator labeling
- Maintain the patient label book and verify room/bed assignments
- Communicate appropriately with patients, guests, staff, and the public
- Refer parents to the lactation consultant or dietitian when necessary
- Provide professional customer service and maintain confidentiality
- Report to the Milk Lab Manager
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma
- 1 year healthcare or food service related experience
- Human Milk Technician Certification preferred
- Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment
- License or Certificate required as an application document
- Annual TB Screening
- Criminal Background Check
- Sex Offender Registry check
- Substance Abuse Testing
- Must follow current Human Milk Banking of North America (HMBANA) Guidelines and department policies
- Ability to maintain an aseptic environment
- Ability to prepare breast milk and formula feedings according to orders, recipes, and department policies
- Ability to perform cleaning, stocking, inventory, labeling, and equipment/supply maintenance tasks
- Ability to communicate effectively and maintain confidentiality
