About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Conduct electroencephalograms (EEG), nerve conduction studies (NCS), EMGs, electronystagmograms (ENG), intraoperative monitoring, and other electroneurodiagnostic procedures
- Clip and archive studies
- Complete daily patient testing in a timely manner
- Accurately document patient testing and charges
- Maintain clinical testing equipment
- Perform standard and complex EEG procedures, evoked potentials, nerve conduction velocities, quantitative sensory testing, and epilepsy monitoring
- Prepare patients for neurodiagnostic procedures
- Apply electrodes and monitoring equipment correctly
- Monitor patients during tests and observe abnormalities
- Assist physicians in diagnosing neurological disorders
- Perform sleep studies in some settings
- Maintain accurate patient records and test documentation
- Troubleshoot and calibrate neurodiagnostic equipment
- Explain procedures and provide patient education
- Identify seizure activity or other neurological abnormalities
- Ensure patient safety and comfort
- Follow infection control and HIPAA regulations
- Communicate test results and observations to physicians
- Perform other duties as needed
Requirements
What you’ll need- Associates degree or High School Diploma/GED and two years’ experience in a health care setting for new hires
- Registered Technologist or must be willing to become a Registered Technologist through ABRET within 5 years of hire
- BLS
- Persons must have proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment
- Annual TB Screening
- Criminal Background Check
- Motor Vehicle Reports Check
- Substance Abuse Testing
- Ability to perform the listed physical activities and requirements, including lifting and carrying 25 lbs and pushing and pulling 25 lbs
- Experience preferred but will provide OTJ training
