About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support the ongoing delivery of care as a trained member of the unit-based team
- Work under the direct supervision of Registered Nurse(s)
- Perform tasks and duties that do not require a license, professional judgment, or intervention
- Obtain patient reports and communicate with R.N. regarding patient care and changes in condition
- Inform nurses of patient requests or complaints
- Assist with patient admission, transfer, and discharge
- Transport patients to other hospital areas as directed
- Carry out the delegated Plan of Care using a multidisciplinary approach
- Communicate with team members to facilitate patient care
- Follow delegated patient care activities
- Provide grooming, oral hygiene, comfort measures, ambulation, chair transfers, turning, and repositioning assistance
- Accurately and timely document patient care activities, vital signs, ADL, wave tests, and I&O's
- Assist patients and visitors with information or solutions to problems
- Serve as a resource person supporting department members
- Adhere to Department of Nursing standards, UAMS clinical programs, policies, procedures, standards, and guest care guidelines
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School, GED or formal educational equivalent
- Successful completion of patient care technician course is required within 3 months of employment
- CPR Certified/Licensed preferred
- Experience in an ambulatory care setting preferred
- Health Care Experience
- Patient Care Experience
- Certified Nursing Assistant or Military Corpsman
- Excellent communication skills
- Basic computer skills
- Strong work ethics and accountability
- Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment
- Annual TB Screening
- Criminal Background Check
- Must pass the required competencies
- Ability to lift and carry 25 lbs
- Ability to push and pull 25 lbs
