About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support the ongoing delivery of care as identified by the multidisciplinary Patient Management Team
  • Work under the direct supervision of the R.N.
  • Perform tasks and duties that do not require a license, professional judgment, or intervention
  • Adhere to Department of Nursing standards, UAMS clinical programs, policies, procedures, standards, and guest care guidelines
  • Prepare treatment rooms for examination
  • Assist with medical procedures and examinations
  • Conduct patient interviews
  • Measure vital signs, including pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height
  • Perform phlebotomy, EKGs, and basic dressing changes
  • Register and schedule patients for appointments and procedures using registration and scheduling systems
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Successful completion of patient care technician course within three(3) months of hire
  • Must pass the required competencies
  • Proficiency in providing basic patient care
  • Adherence to established patient safety protocols and guidelines
  • Effective communication skills
  • Accurate and timely documentation of patient-related activities, including vital signs, intake/output, and medication administration
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to collaborate with the healthcare team
  • Physical stamina and ability to work under pressure
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs. to waist height
  • Persons must have proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment
  • Criminal Background Check
  • Patient care experience in an acute care setting (preferred)
  • Experience with casting/splinting (preferred)
  • Experience with blood draws (preferred)
