About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform patient care tasks and duties that do not require a license, professional judgment, or intervention
  • Work under the direct supervision of the R.N.
  • Obtain patient report and communicate with the R.N. regarding patient care and changes in condition
  • Inform nurses of patient requests or complaints
  • Assist with admission, transfer, and discharge of patients
  • Transport patients to other hospital areas as directed
  • Carry out the patient Plan of Care using a multidisciplinary approach as delegated by the Team Leader
  • Communicate with team members to facilitate patient care
  • Follow directions and delegated patient care activities
  • Provide grooming, oral hygiene, comfort measures, ambulation, chair positioning, turning, and repositioning assistance
  • Document patient care activities, vital signs, ADL, wave tests, and I&O accurately and timely
  • Assist patients and visitors with information and problem-solving
  • Serve as a resource person to support department members
  • Notify appropriate staff of problems requiring prompt intervention
  • Complete five weeks of Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM training after hiring
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma/GED and successful completion of patient care technician course within 3 months of hire required
  • Must have excellent communication skills, ability to follow oral instructions, basic computer skills, strong work ethics and accountability
  • Must be able to lift 100 lbs. to waist height
  • Employees in this role must be fitted for, capable of donning and performing routine tasks in personal protective equipment including N95 masks, PAPR or CAPR
  • Must pass required competencies
  • Persons must have proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment
  • Subject to pre-employment screening, including criminal background, drug testing, and/or education verification
  • Three professional references and resume required
  • Certification as a nursing assistant or military corpsman preferred
  • Previous Patient Care experience in acute care setting preferred
