About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform patient care tasks and duties that do not require a license
- Support ongoing care delivery as part of the unit-based team in the H7 Medical Oncology Unit
- Work under the direct supervision of Registered Nurses
- Obtain patient reports and communicate with R.N.s about patient care and changes in condition
- Assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges
- Transport patients within the hospital
- Carry out delegated plans of care using a multidisciplinary approach
- Assist with grooming, oral hygiene, comfort measures, ambulation, positioning, and other activities
- Document patient care activities, vital signs, ADLs, wave tests, and I&Os accurately and promptly
- Assist patients and visitors with information and problem-solving
- Notify appropriate staff of problems requiring prompt intervention
- Complete required competencies and follow nursing standards, policies, procedures, and guest care guidelines
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma/GED
- Successful completion of patient care technician course within 3 months of hire
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to follow oral instructions
- Basic computer skills
- Strong work ethics and accountability
- Ability to lift 100 lbs. to waist height
- Certification as a nursing assistant or military corpsman preferred
- Patient care experience in acute care setting preferred
- Prior PCT experience preferred
- Must have proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment
- Must be fitted for, capable of donning and performing routine tasks in N95 masks, PAPR or CAPR
- Must complete pre-employment screening, including criminal background, drug testing, and/or education verification
