About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Perform patient care tasks and duties that do not require a license, professional judgment, or intervention
Support ongoing delivery of care in the F7 Stem Cell Transplant Unit under the multidisciplinary patient management team
Work under the direct supervision of Registered Nurse(s)
Pass required competencies and follow Department of Nursing standards, UAMS clinical programs, policies, procedures, standards, and guest care guidelines
Obtain patient report and maintain ongoing communication with R.N.s regarding patient care and changes in condition
Inform nurses of patient requests or complaints
Assist with patient admission, transfer, and discharge
Transport patients to other areas of the hospital
Carry out delegated patient care plans using a multidisciplinary approach
Communicate with team members to facilitate patient care
Follow through on delegated patient care activities
Provide grooming, oral hygiene, comfort measures, ambulation, chair positioning, turning, and repositioning assistance
Document patient care activities, vital signs, ADLs, wave tests, and I&Os accurately and timely
Assist patients and visitors with information and problem resolution
Support department members in performing their duties
Notify appropriate staff of problems requiring prompt intervention
Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need

High School Diploma/GED
Successful completion of patient care technician course within 3 months of hire
Excellent communication skills
Ability to follow oral instructions
Basic computer skills
Strong work ethics and accountability
Must be able to lift 100 lbs. to waist height
Employees must be fitted for, capable of donning and performing routine tasks in N95 masks, Powered Air Purifying Respirators (PAPR) or Controlled Air Purifying Respirators (CAPR)
Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment
Required documents: License or Certificate, list of three professional references, and resume
Subject to pre-employment screening, including criminal background, drug testing, and/or education verification
