About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Counsel patients on their financial status and obligations
  • Identify and refer patients and/or responsible parties to appropriate sponsoring agencies
  • Process high-risk pre-certifications
  • Develop and implement denial avoidance plans
  • Produce reports on revenue cycle functions and ensure financial error reports are worked and corrected
  • Demonstrate competency in all job elements of Access Coordinator positions
  • Greet and assist the public professionally while maintaining effective communication and confidentiality
  • Resolve conflicts through careful listening and negotiation
  • Maintain accurate records and use communication devices effectively
  • Schedule and coordinate appointments, pre-register patients, and update patient information
  • Manage walk-ins, create patient charts, and handle scheduling for surgeries and tests
  • Issue excuses, send no-show letters, and maintain tracker boards
  • Verify insurance, complete ABNs, and handle authorizations and pre-certifications
  • Track referrals and ensure accurate benefit information in systems
  • Maintain care plans, input statistics, and address medical record issues
  • Generate maintenance reports, including work denials and canceled clinic reports
  • Collect payments, issue receipts, and reconcile daily deposits
  • Counsel patients on financial information and monitor balances
  • Enter and reconcile daily charges, if applicable
  • Attend training, staff meetings, and orientation sessions
  • Complete annual skill assessments and maintain job competencies

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma/GED plus four (4) years of experience in customer service, call center, business office administration, registration, billing, insurance, or scheduling
  • Ability to follow oral instructions, read, and write
  • Computer/basic keyboard skills
  • Telephone etiquette skills
  • General knowledge of office machines, including printers and scanners
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Persons must have proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment
  • Subject to pre-employment screening, including criminal background, drug testing, and/or education verification
