About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide clerical and patient care support within the BHSL Women's Inpatient Unit
  • Work under the direct supervision of the Clinical Services Manager and direction of the RN
  • Process medical records for patient admission and discharge
  • Serve as receptionist for the nursing unit
  • Provide administrative and patient support services in a behavioral health setting
  • Greet patients, families, visitors, and healthcare team members
  • Register patients and verify demographic, contact, insurance, and other information
  • Schedule, reschedule, and confirm behavioral health appointments
  • Answer telephone calls, respond to patient inquiries, and direct calls
  • Coordinate referrals, authorizations, medical records, and patient-care documentation
  • Maintain accurate patient information in electronic medical record and scheduling systems
  • Assist with check-in and check-out and complete required documentation
  • Collect and process payments or financial information
  • Coordinate patient services with providers, nurses, therapists, social workers, insurance companies, and departments
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and behavioral health privacy requirements
  • Escalate urgent patient concerns or behavioral changes to clinical staff
  • Support a safe, respectful, and welcoming environment
  • Maintain organized work areas, patient records, supplies, and front-desk operations
  • Process messages, work queues, referrals, and administrative tasks
  • Perform other duties as needed

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma, GED, or formal education equivalent
  • 1 year of work experience in the Health Care Field or in a service-oriented position
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to accept and follow written and verbal instructions
  • Ability to communicate following Guest Care guidelines
  • Successful completion of the UAMS PCT and PSC courses
  • Must successfully complete UAMS-sponsored conflict management training within six months of hire
  • Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment
  • Completion of pre-employment screening: Adult Maltreatment, Annual TB Screening, Child Maltreatment, Criminal Background Check, Substance Abuse Testing
  • Ability to lift and carry 25 lbs
  • Ability to push and pull 25 lbs
