About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Assist and support the pharmacist in day-to-day dispensing operations
  • Compound sterile preparations, including chemotherapy infusions
  • Use technology such as the electronic medical record
  • Ensure compliance with USP requirements and departmental cleaning, deactivation, decontamination, and disinfection procedures
  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly cleanroom cleaning tasks
  • Prioritize work based on immediate need and changing workload
  • Assist with hazardous and non-hazardous sterile compounding
  • Perform pharmaceutical calculations and assemble parenteral medication products
  • Reconstitute, measure, and add medications to parenteral fluids under pharmacist supervision and final check
  • Document waste, cleaning activities, temperatures, pressure differentials, and inspections
  • Prepare batches of commonly used IV medications under pharmacist supervision
  • Troubleshoot drug delivery and equipment issues
  • Maintain equipment, rooms, work surfaces, hoods, storage carts, and bins
  • Deactivate and decontaminate hazardous drug residues
  • Promote a safe working environment and comply with policies, USP 797, and USP 800
  • Report equipment, facility, or drug-distribution deficiencies
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Enrolled or accepted into an ACPE accredited college/school of pharmacy
  • Must work towards obtaining a Pharmacy Intern License within six months of hire
  • Pharmacy Intern License by the Arkansas State Board of Pharmacy OR Pharmacy Technician License by the Arkansas State Board of Pharmacy
  • Relevant pharmacy experience as a technician or intern is preferred
  • Specialized certificate/certification is preferred
  • Computer skills, including Microsoft Office and EMR experience, are preferred
  • Strong math skills are preferred
  • Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment
  • Annual TB Screening, Criminal Background Check, Substance Abuse Testing
  • Resume, license or certificate, and three professional references required for application
