About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Serve as a member of an interdisciplinary team representing UAMS Specialty Pharmacy Services - Rheumatology
  • Provide pharmacy services focused on safety, efficacy, and positive outcomes
  • Develop professional relationships with specialty interdisciplinary team members
  • Perform patient assessments complying with accreditation standards and patient management program timelines
  • Work to institute disease state management agreements with providers
  • Cosign outreach documentation
  • Assess therapy appropriateness regarding safety, comorbidities, dosing, and side-effect management
  • Recommend screening before medication initiation and monitoring for patient safety
  • Document clinical interventions
  • Promote adherence and monitor patient compliance
  • Monitor hospital admissions for the specific patient population
  • Answer clinical communications from patients and facilitate communication between patients and clinics
  • Defend product use to payers using clinical studies and accepted guidelines
  • Practice evidence-based medicine
  • Develop and manage plans of care, collecting objective data to demonstrate positive outcomes
  • Participate in training staff, students, and residents
  • Participate in a 24/7/365 on-call rotation, with each group member taking call for one week at a time
  • Provide accurate drug information to medical staff
  • Participate in quality improvement projects and action plans
  • Serve on the Quality Management Committee
  • Work with drug manufacturers to access limited-distribution medications
  • Complete required training and specialty continuing education
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Graduate of an ACPE-accredited College of Pharmacy with a Doctor of Pharmacy or BS in Pharmacy Degree
  • PGY1 Residency Training OR 3 years of applicable experience
  • Licensed by the Arkansas State Board of Pharmacy as a pharmacist or eligible for licensure
  • Annual TB screening
  • Criminal background check
  • Substance abuse testing
  • Curriculum Vitae required
  • License or Certificate required
