About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Collect patient intake documents ahead of appointments
- Answer inbound and outbound calls
- Collect personal demographics, employment, guarantor, emergency contact, and insurance information
- Verify insurance information
- Check for Medicaid PCP information
- Answer Medicare questionnaires
- Check for out-of-network or out-of-area coverage
- Direct out-of-network insured patients to Office of Financial Counseling
- Advise in-network patients of insurance copays and deductibles
- Provide appointment time, location, and physician information
- Perform all duties of the Pre-Registration Specialist level and other duties supporting patient care activities
- Serve as the network specialist for understanding patient insurance
- Perform other duties as needed
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School, GED or formal educational equivalent
- 2 years customer service or healthcare experience
- Ability to follow oral instruction, read, and write
- Computer/basic keyboard skills
- Telephone etiquette skills
- General knowledge of office machines including printers and scanners
- Excellent customer service skills
- Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment
- Ability to pass pre-employment screening, including criminal background, drug testing, and/or education verification
- Associate degree in general studies or related preferred
- One year in medical office setting preferred
- Knowledge in basic medical terminology preferred; medical terminology competent within 3 months of hire
- Registration experience preferred
