RN – Interventional Pain Clinic, Procedural
University of Arkansas System. Provide direct patient care to assigned patients using the nursing process .
About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide direct patient care to assigned patients using the nursing process
- Assess patients before procedures by reviewing medical history, allergies, medications, laboratory results, and obtaining baseline vital signs
- Prepare patients for interventional pain procedures, verify informed consent, and provide procedure and post-procedure education
- Assist physicians during epidural steroid injections, nerve blocks, radiofrequency ablations, spinal cord stimulator trials, joint injections, and other image-guided interventions
- Maintain sterile technique and prepare procedure rooms, equipment, medications, and supplies
- Administer moderate sedation when credentialed, local anesthetics, IV medications, and emergency medications according to orders and policy
- Continuously monitor patients during procedures for vital-sign changes, pain, and complications
- Provide post-procedure recovery care and manage discomfort
- Deliver discharge instructions covering activity restrictions, medications, wound care, follow-up, and warning signs
- Coordinate scheduling, referrals, insurance authorizations, and continuity of care
- Document assessments, interventions, medications, procedural details, education, and outcomes in the EHR
- Respond to medical emergencies using ACLS protocols when required
- Maintain infection prevention, patient safety, and regulatory compliance
- Educate patients and families about chronic pain, treatment plans, and realistic expectations
Requirements
What you’ll need- Graduate from an ASBN approved nursing program
- Associate Degree, Bachelor's in Nursing, Master's in Nursing, or Nursing Diploma
- Valid Registered Nurse license in the state of Arkansas
- 1 year of direct RN Nursing Care experience
- Persons must have proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment
- Subject to pre-employment screening (criminal background, drug testing, and/or education verification)
- Preferred: 2 years or more nursing experience
- Preferred: Current BLS
- Preferred: Current ACLS for Procedural Area
