About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Work as a member of an interdisciplinary team with occupational therapists and physical therapists
- Provide evidence-based, best-practice evaluations and therapy techniques
- Perform treatments and evaluations in the outpatient clinic and Arkansas State Veteran's Home
- Plan and administer medically prescribed therapy treatments
- Use treatment plans to restore, maintain, or prevent decline of resident function
- Comply with federal, state, and professional standards governing the facility
- Contribute to UAMS's mission to improve the health and health care of Arkansans
Requirements
What you’ll need- Masters’ degree in speech language pathology
- Licensed as a speech language pathologist in the state of Arkansas or eligible to apply and obtain license within one month of hire
- Certificate of Clinical Competence or eligible pending completion of Clinical Fellowship year
- Problem-solving skills necessary to accomplish the job
- Clinical experience with the geriatric population
- Effective oral, written and interpersonal communications skills
- Ability to perform required physical activities, including bending, standing, walking, eyesight, hearing, driving, speaking, repetitious movement, and lifting up to 50 lbs. to waist, chest, and above head and 20 lbs.
- FEES certification, LSVT-LOUD certification, and Vital-stim certification preferred
- Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment
- Successful completion of pre-employment screening requirements: Adult Maltreatment, Annual TB Screening, Child Maltreatment, Criminal Background Check, and Substance Abuse Testing
