About the role

  • Assemble supplies for surgical procedures
  • Set up and maintain the sterile field
  • Pass surgical instruments

  • Work collaboratively with clinic providers, fellows, and staff
  • Ensure availability of appropriate instrumentation, supplies, and equipment for assigned cases
  • Prepare operating rooms with appropriate equipment ready for surgical use
  • Clean, arrange, and transport instruments to the soiled workroom according to department policy
  • Assist with instrument reprocessing tasks when assigned cases are completed and time permits
  • Ensure operating rooms are case-ready for following-day cases
  • Apply practical knowledge of operating-room equipment, maintenance, and safety
  • Utilize available communication tools
  • Assist other team members and share knowledge and expertise
  • Attend departmental in-services and educational offerings
  • Incorporate new knowledge and skills into clinical practice
  • Learn new techniques
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School GED
  • Graduate of a NBSTSA-accredited or a NCCT-approved Surgical Technology school/program, surgical/scrub tech training through the military, or a minimum of two years on-the-job training (OJT) surgical/scrub experience at an acute care facility or ambulatory surgery center
  • Ability to follow oral instruction, read, and write
  • Employees in this role must be fitted for, capable of donning and performing routine tasks in personal protective equipment including N95 masks, Powered Air Purifying Respirators (PAPR) or Controlled Air Purifying Respirators (CAPR)
  • Required License or Certificate

  • Persons must have proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment
