About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Assemble supplies for surgical procedures
- Set up and maintain the sterile field
- Pass surgical instruments
- Assist in-room preparation
- Coordinate care for the surgical case with the surgeon, nurses, and other team members
- Work collaboratively with clinic providers, fellows, and staff
- Ensure availability of appropriate instrumentation, supplies, and equipment for assigned cases
- Prepare rooms for upcoming cases and ensure equipment is ready for surgical use
- Clean, arrange, and transport instruments to the soiled workroom according to department policy
- Assist with instrument reprocessing tasks when assigned cases are completed and time permits
- Ensure operating rooms are case-ready for the following day’s cases
- Apply practical knowledge of OR equipment, including maintenance and safety
- Use available communication tools
- Demonstrate teamwork and assist other team members
- Share knowledge, information, and expertise with other staff
- Attend departmental in-services and educational offerings
- Incorporate new knowledge and skills into clinical practice
- Learn new techniques
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School GED
- Graduate of a NBSTSA-accredited or a NCCT-approved Surgical Technology school/program, surgical/scrub tech training through the military, or a minimum of two years on-the-job training (OJT) surgical/scrub experience at an acute care facility or ambulatory surgery center
- Ability to follow oral instruction, read, and write
- Employees in this role must be fitted for, capable of donning and performing routine tasks in personal protective equipment to include N95 masks, Powered Air Purifying Respirators (PAPR) or Controlled Air Purifying Respirators (CAPR)
- Annual TB Screening, Criminal Background Check, Substance Abuse Testing
- Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment
- License or Certificate, List of three Professional References (name, email, business title), Resume
