About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Assemble supplies for surgical procedures
  • Set up and maintain the sterile field
  • Pass surgical instruments and assist with room preparation
  • Coordinate surgical-case care needs with surgeons, nurses, and other team members
  • Collaborate with clinic providers, fellows, and staff
  • Ensure appropriate instrumentation, supplies, and equipment are available for assigned cases
  • Prepare operating rooms and ensure equipment is ready for surgical use
  • Clean, arrange, and transport instruments according to department policy
  • Assist with instrument reprocessing when assigned cases are completed and time permits
  • Ensure operating rooms are case-ready for the following day
  • Apply practical knowledge of operating-room equipment, maintenance, and safety
  • Use communication tools and assist other team members
  • Share knowledge and expertise with staff
  • Attend departmental in-services and educational offerings
  • Incorporate new knowledge and skills into clinical practice
  • Provide professional, friendly customer service and maintain confidentiality
  • Perform other assigned duties

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Graduate of an NBSTSA-accredited Surgical Technology program OR NCCT-approved Surgical Technology program OR completed military surgical/scrub tech training OR two or more years of on-the-job surgical/scrub experience in an acute care facility or ambulatory surgery center
  • Current Operating Room experience
  • Ability to effectively communicate
  • Ability to assemble supplies, maintain a sterile field, pass surgical instruments, and assist with room preparation
  • Required license or certificate documentation
  • Three professional references

  • Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment
  • Subject to pre-employment criminal background, drug testing, and/or education verification
  • Ability to lift and carry 25+ lbs and push and pull 25+ lbs
  • Frequent standing, walking, hand use, talking, and continuous hearing, reading, concentration, and analytical thinking
