About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead the development and delivery of strategies for cost-effective and efficient acquisition, discovery and access to library print and electronic information resources
  • Plan and manage the annual cycle of library materials purchase and access
  • Oversee spend of the £9.3M Library Materials Budget
  • Lead the Content Acquisition & Access Team
  • Ensure team members are motivated, flexible and have relevant skills
  • Plan and initiate innovations and refinements in acquisition and e-resource operations
  • Deliver continuous improvement
  • Work closely with Library colleagues in the University and wider sector on future provision and access to scholarly resources
  • Address challenges in providing effective access to library resources supporting teaching, learning and research

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Extensive experience gained within academic / research libraries in leading library content acquisition and e-resources
  • Experience managing large, complex budgets
  • Experience managing a large team
  • Good understanding of the academic library content supply chain
  • Understanding of the role of consortial groups and sectoral bodies
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proven ability to negotiate and influence
  • Excellent IT skills
  • Significant experience of integrated library management systems
  • Ability to produce and analyse systems data
  • Experience managing change
  • Experience developing services and staff to respond to evolving requirements
  • Right to work in the UK
