About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Deliver medical care to a wide variety of patients
  • Examine and treat patients independently and in autonomous collaboration with other health care professionals
  • Ensure illness and injury care, disease prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and recovery
  • Prescribe medications and order diagnostic tests
  • Advise patients about continuing care
  • Perform and document complete physical examinations and comprehensive health histories
  • Perform age-appropriate histories and physical examinations
  • Order and interpret diagnostic and therapeutic tests
  • Prescribe pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment modalities
  • Implement interventions to support physiologic stability
  • Monitor intervention effectiveness
  • Facilitate patient transitions between health care settings
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members and make referrals
  • Provide educational tools for staff, patients, and families
  • Provide outpatient medical care by collecting histories and performing physical, neurological, and gynecological/obstetric assessments
  • Perform screening and diagnostic procedures such as Pap smears, cultures, colposcopy, LEEP, cryotherapy, biopsies, endocervical curettage, and IUD insertion/removal
  • Consult and refer complicated medical problems
  • Recruit and manage patients for OB/GYN research trials
  • Monitor and alter drug therapies and initiate therapies according to protocols
  • Follow up on abnormal laboratory tests
  • Educate patients and participate in patient/family interventions
  • Assist with clinic nursing staff development
  • Organize and implement clinical research projects
  • Screen and recruit clinical study subjects and review study data
  • Develop programs to educate and mentor nursing staff
  • Participate in performance improvement, quality improvement, and patient safety activities
  • Assist with accreditation and regulatory compliance
  • Order labs, diagnostic imaging, and medications
  • Communicate treatment options and plans to patients
  • Follow up with patients regarding test results
  • Help nursing staff formulate and communicate treatment plans
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Master’s degree in a relevant field
  • Valid State of Florida APRN License
  • Current and valid ACLS and BLS Certification from the American Heart Association
  • One year of experience as an APRN, preferably in OB/GYN or MFM
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions
  • Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail
  • Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and/or in a collaborative environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form
