About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Deliver patient-family centered care in a culturally competent manner using evidence-based standards of quality, safety, and service
- Ensure population-specific patient care
- Oversee nurses and allied health staff in their daily practice
- Assess assigned patients and evaluate and document nursing care plans
- Report symptoms and changes in patients’ condition and vital signs
- Modify patient treatment plans based on patient responses, conditions, and physician orders
- Review, evaluate, and report diagnostic tests
- Consult with physicians and healthcare professionals to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans
- Prepare patients for and assist with examinations, procedures, and treatments
- Provide treatment information while considering patient age and culture
- Provide psychological support
- Perform patient tests and safely administer medications within scope of practice
- Maintain accurate medication and treatment records
- Communicate plans of care to patients, families, and team members in compliance with regulatory guidelines
- Use best practices for transition of patient care
- Assist with discharge planning
- Plan, prioritize, and adjust assignments to accomplish goals and provide superior patient care
- Safely operate medical equipment
- Serve as a preceptor and assist new staff in providing care and acclimating to the healthcare environment
- Provide concise and constructive feedback
- Adhere to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguard University assets
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor of Science in nursing required
- Registered Nurse License
- Basic Life Support Certification (BLS)
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Knowledge of nursing care methods and procedures
- In-depth knowledge of health and safety guidelines and procedures, including sanitation and decontamination
- Excellent patient experience skills
- Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems
- Ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships
- Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form
