Key responsibilities & impact
  • Independently plan, coordinate, and implement communications, outreach, and event strategies supporting departmental strategic priorities
  • Collaborate with college, department-level, and UW Foundation communications professionals
  • Engage stakeholders through websites, video, print, and social media
  • Interact with alumni, advancement officers, donors, and faculty to cultivate relationships supporting the department’s teaching and research mission
  • Plan editorial content according to established goals and objectives
  • Write, edit, and publish content for communications projects and marketing platforms
  • Plan and execute department events
  • Manage and execute communications programs, initiatives, and tactical plans
  • Communicate with stakeholders to verify requests and identify editorial resources
  • Monitor the reach and effectiveness of communications campaigns, projects, and initiatives

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 2+ years experience in event planning, executive assistance, or communications
  • Canva, Adobe Suite, or equivalent graphic design program
  • Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, and WordPress
  • Excellent written communication skills, demonstrated through a writing sample and cover letter
  • Cover letter, resume, and a small portfolio with one design sample and one writing sample required
  • Continuous eligibility to work in the United States
  • Proof of work authorization and eligibility to work required if selected
  • F-1 OPT STEM Extensions are not accepted for employment eligibility
  • Employment may require a criminal background check
  • References may be required to answer questions regarding misconduct, including sexual violence and sexual harassment
