About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Serve as a strategic collaborator bridging proactive risk management and real-time emergency response
  • Lead cybersecurity risk assessments to harden research and clinical infrastructure
  • Spearhead incident response and coordinate collaboration across SMPH, campus, and third-party vendors
  • Identify, develop, and facilitate unit staff training opportunities
  • Perform basic data analyses and reporting
  • Assist in mapping business processes using basic mapping methodologies
  • Assist in recommending technology solutions aligned with business strategies
  • Assist in designing, developing, and implementing data reporting and business intelligence systems
  • Provide procedural and technical guidance to unit staff on technology usage and management
  • Protect HIPAA-regulated patient data and support resilience of the School’s research enterprise

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Demonstrated experience conducting cybersecurity risk assessments across business processes, cloud/IT systems, and research workflows
  • Hands-on experience using SIEM, EDR/XDR, and vulnerability scanners to monitor enterprise environments, triage alerts, and track remediation
  • Working knowledge of HIPAA/HITECH, NIST SP 800-53 / 800-171, ISO 27001, or CIS Controls
  • Ability to document information security processes, procedures, and validation of remediation
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with ability to translate complex security risks to non-technical business partners, clinical leads, and researchers
  • 2 or more years of cybersecurity experience (preferred)
  • Understanding of network design, security controls, and system administration (preferred)
  • Experience in cybersecurity governance, risk management, and compliance (preferred)
  • Project management experience including design review, threat modeling, and risk profiling (preferred)
  • Experience writing or updating technical documentation, security procedures, and compliance reporting artifacts (preferred)
  • Active industry certification such as CompTIA CySA+, Security+, GIAC (GSEC/GCIH), CISA, or equivalent (preferred)
  • Cover letter and resume required
  • Must continuously maintain eligibility to work in the United States without employer sponsorship
  • Must provide proof of work authorization and eligibility to work
  • Employment may require a criminal background check
  • References may be requested from final candidates
