About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide consultation to departments, units, and programs supported by the Administrative Services Unit
  • Respond to and resolve employee inquiries regarding HR matters
  • Coordinate, process, and audit recruitment, titling, compensation, and other HR transactions and personnel record changes throughout the employee lifecycle
  • Provide administrative support for general HR, compliance monitoring, project planning and implementation, training, and related HR needs
  • Represent the Administrative Services Unit at workshops, meetings, and training sessions
  • Provide backup HR support outside the assigned portfolio
  • Contribute to developing, implementing, interpreting, and revising HR policies and procedures
  • Execute and audit work transactions and changes according to policies and deadlines
  • Provide consultation, perform analytics, and maintain personnel files, communications, and materials

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Previous HR experience supporting multiple functional areas, including recruitment, onboarding, employee records management, compensation, payroll, and related HR administrative processes
  • Ability to engage, support, and collaborate effectively with a diverse workforce
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, triage tasks, adapt to interruptions, and meet deadlines
  • Effective oral, written, and non-verbal communication skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Positive, calm, and helpful approach with active listening and confirmation of understanding
  • Ability to maintain discretion and high ethical and professional standards with confidential information
  • Prior experience with human capital management software suites such as Workday, Oracle, or SAP (preferred)
  • Prior experience interpreting policy and providing consultations regarding policy (preferred)
  • Experience in higher education and/or state service (preferred)
  • Experience presenting to large groups or conducting employee training (preferred)
  • Associate degree (preferred)
  • Eligibility to work in the United States without employer sponsorship
