About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Assist Principal Investigators and the clinical research team with clinical research study operations under research protocols and UW-Madison policies
- Conduct comprehensive medical assessments, including neurological and physical exams and detailed health histories
- Contribute to a multidisciplinary clinician panel with a geriatrician and neuropsychologist to reach consensus-based research diagnoses of dementia
- Travel to participants’ homes across the country for study visits, coordinating with University of Wisconsin Survey Center field interviewers
- Develop, implement, collect data, and evaluate primary health care services according to individual care plans
- Develop individualized care plans based on medical assessments and established rules and regulations
- Educate patients and support systems on condition management and health promotion
- Provide expertise, training, and guidance to the community, peers, and/or students
- Collaborate with research teams on study visit protocols, serious adverse event evaluation, medical-record prescreening, and interpretation of lab and imaging results
- Assess, diagnose, and treat illnesses and manage chronic health problems
Requirements
What you’ll need- Current Wisconsin Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license with the recognized role of Nurse Practitioner (NP), or eligibility to obtain prior to start date
- Wisconsin Registered Nurse (RN) License required by the start date of the position
- Current Nurse Practitioner certification or eligibility to obtain prior to start date
- Master’s Degree required
- Graduate from an accredited nursing school
- Experience or training to work with geriatric patients and/or persons with cognitive impairment preferred
- Experience in clinical research, neurology, and/or performing procedures preferred
- Must pass an initial caregiver check and recurring check every four years under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law
- Must provide a valid driver's license
- Employment is conditional on passing a Pre-hire Driver Authorization Check
- Must maintain continuous eligibility to work in the United States; university sponsorship is unavailable, including transfers of sponsorship and TN visas
