About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Define the team’s analytics strategy in partnership with organizational leadership
  • Define tools, methodologies, staff mix and project priorities for the department
  • Develop and implement best practices for data and analytics projects
  • Drive business stakeholder buy-in for operational and analytical data consumption
  • Recruit, train, manage performance, coach, develop and retain staff
  • Build bench strength and retain and motivate high performers
  • Oversee construction of predictive models, data pipelines and analytics workflows
  • Contribute meaningfully to development of data and analytics assets as needed
  • Translate business needs into technical plans, identify available data, communicate findings and results, and develop implementation strategies
  • Provide consulting support regarding corporate policies, procedures, controls and compliance
  • Apply current and emerging analysis methods and data tooling to recommend continuous improvement opportunities
  • Identify internal and external data sources, construct analytical databases and develop data pipelines to enhance business performance
  • Discuss data transformation, integration and reporting requirements with technical and non-technical audiences
  • Oversee mentoring and training on statistical methods, tools and data asset development
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Master’s degree in Information Technology, Mathematics, or Statistics preferred
  • Minimum of 8+ years hands-on experience as a Data Engineer, BI Analyst, or Data Scientist
  • Proven ability to develop, coach and lead technical staff
  • Deep experience with analytics programming languages (SQL/R/Python)
  • Deep experience with modern BI toolsets (Tableau, Alteryx, PowerBI, or equivalent)
  • In-depth understanding of data profiling, statistical analysis and data modeling concepts
  • Experience extracting, loading and leveraging data in data warehouses, transactional databases, object stores and API-based environments
  • Good understanding of data architecture principles and related infrastructure requirements across on-premises and cloud platforms
  • Strong problem-solving, programming and project management skills
  • Excellent ability to interpret or correlate varied information, decompose complex analytical and technical problems, and translate them into simple business solutions
  • Ability to think conceptually, handle ambiguity, solve complex problems and make thoughtful recommendations
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work with all corporate levels, including senior management and external contacts
